International Graphic Designer Stefan Sagmeister will be opening a series of virtual meetings organized by the IED European Design Institute in Rome.
The appointment is on monday March 22nd at 18:30 Rome Time (12:00 PM CT); with the first event of MORE THAN MONDAY – Inspirational Stories.
On Monday, the Istituto Europeo di Design focus on seeking for inspiration. More than Monday, is not just a live streaming schedule, but also a virtual place. A place where to share thoughts and visions, understand the past and foresee the future. Next monday we’ll meet Stefan Sagmeister, one of the most important contemporary graphic designers. Sagmeister will catch our attention with hi speech Why Beauty Matters.

Who is Stefan Sagmeister?
Stefan Sagmeister, holds a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and, as a Fulbright Scholar, a master’s degree from the Pratt Institute in New York. Two-times Grammies winner, he has won every major international design award. He worked for clients such as Rolling Stones, HBO and the Guggenheim Museum. Five-time TED speaker, Sagmeister is one of the three most frequently invited TED speakers.
His exhibition The Happy Show has attracted over half a million visitors worldwide, becoming the most visited graphic design exhibition in history. Sagmeister focuses on the big themes of human existence such as happiness or beauty, how these relate to design and what they mean for our daily life.
Sagmeister meets the IED community with his speech Why Beauty Matters, to show us how we feel and behave differently when we are surrounded by beauty; through examples of architecture, design and science. The speech, primarily aimed at IED students and community, will be also available to external audience by reservation. Participants can interact asking live questions.
More than Monday: next appointments
Next appointment in calendar is on April 12th with Francesca Molteni. Documentary maker, director and author of films related to the world of design; and founder of the Muse Factory of Projects.
Andrea Stillacci, President and Founding of the award winning agency Herezie Group, we’ll be on stage on May 10th.
On May 17th we’ll meet Anna Dato, Vice President of strategic marketing and account development Asia for the Intercos Group. While on June 7th it’s the time of Ugo La Pietra, Italian architect, designer and artist.
The very last appointment will be on June 28th with Thomas Girst: BMW‘s cultural manager. He wrote about art for magazines and newspapers and curated exhibitions in Germany and the United States. Honorary professor at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts, he teaches at the Faculty of History and Arts of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich.
